Got this for my 7 y.o. son for Christmas. He flipped out! He loves Halo! I hate the language on the game, but these toys are great. He can play with "Master Chief" without the bad language, and he uses his imagination. My boys are pretty rough, and so far, it has held up well. We haven't had any problems with things breaking or malfunctioning (as other reviewers had), and it has already taken a ride down the stairs. The color is a little deceiving, the one we got looks much "dirtier" than on the picture. Our's is not hardly green at all. One problem we have is "Master Chief" doesn't stay standing at the gun in the back, not a big deal, but a little disappointing. Overall though, was a total hit!! It is a toy though, not a collectable.

like you have read before, there is no grenade. I was a little disappointed but i'll live. its just a toy, get over it.
One thing that I was greatly disappointed with is the scale that the Master Chief and the rest of the mcfarlane halo 3 series toys. They do not match the size of the halo 2 toys from Rc2 and racing champions.
So if you have the halo 2 spartans and covenant action figures, then don't bother adding these midget mcfarlane toys on the same shelf. frankly it would look just weird. Like a happy meal toy with a G.I. Joe, it simply does not work.
But with that said, this toy does have its perks. 18 points of articulation works great. the figure is very stable, unlike the larger halo 2 series. And (for you nerds like me) smaller toys take up less shelf space.

Former Soviet Union has a history of producing large helicopters capable of lifting heavy loads. Are you kidding me. Nothing else out there can compare to the incredible detail of these figures. I have been wanting a master cheif since Halo 2 but held off because the other figures before Mcfarlane's looked retarded. This is master chief at his finest. No complaints here. I do not open my figures however, so I wouldnt know if these are great for play. In my opinion these are mainly made for collectors. Mcfarlane actually targets the older collector audience. I am very pleased over all.
Fantastic figures! Don't understand how anyone could not rate this product a 5 out of 5.

Hi, Ray again.These two figures are awesome. Both are very articulated and the paint job is a master piece.The helmet on Master Chief is a little smaller than Red Team Leader's helmet.The flamethrower is very well painted, but the only drawback is the Chief's left hand isn't meant to hold the top handle on it.Both are great, good job McFarlane, another great product.

This action figure is a nicely detailed toy. Although he only comes with a Sniper Rifle System 99D-S2 Anti-Matériel, he has a sidearm holster that is compatible with weapons from other figures, such as the Type-25 Directed Energy Rifle (Plasma Rifle) from the Halo 3 Series 3 - Elite Combat Soldier. I was unable to attach the included Type-2 Antipersonnel Fragmentation Grenade(Spike Grenade) to the Master Chief in any way. This was disappointing. I also bought the Halo 3 Series 3 - Elite Combat Soldier and the Halo 3 Series 3 - Brute Chieftain Weapon Class and it is nice to be able to see the size difference between them. He has limited standing positions, and since he is rather top heavy, he is prone to falling over.

The only grip that I have is that it is shown, on the packaging and in pictures all over promoting this figure, having a grenade. And as far as I can tell, not one of Master Chief's figures have one. But overall, I would recommend it to any Halo fan or video game figures collector.

When I received my first one, before it came out of the box, both arms had fallen off. I tried for two hours so snap them on, but to no avail and now I have a very sore thumb. Luckily Amazon said they would send me another one. Well it just got here, and one of the arms has fallen off. I'm not even going to try with this one. I see that Amazon has placed this product under review, and that's a good thing because it is not ready for sale. The model itself looks very nice, and I'm sure it would look amazing if it had arms, but until all this gets sorted out don't buy this.

I purchased this set for my son for his 8th birthday. He loves all things Halo and was very excited to get a set featuring two of the flying vehicles featured in the series. Sadly, the shoddy manufacturing quality of this kit has meant more frustruation than fun for him.

I selected this set because it appeared to be a decent value. It contains a UNSC (human) Sparrowhawk as well as a Covenant (alien) Banshee, thus allowing for some good play scenarios without the need to buy more sets. The articulated and detailed figurines are also far more realistic than Lego's iconic blocky figurines.

The instructions are decent, though they vary enough from Lego logic to cause a few moments of head-scratching as you puzzle out what they mean. But there's nothing that can't be figured out with a minute or two of effort.

The real problems surfaced in handling the actual pieces. The appearance and color are not uniform, with many pieces having swirly patterns that appear to be anomolies from the plastic molding process. More seriously, the pieces generally do not fit into place tightly, meaning they can be knocked loose at the slightest touch. A few pieces were warped enough that they simply did not fit at all.

If you are more of a collector and plan to build these for display purposes only, then you're probably fine. But if you actually want to play with your creations, be prepared for pieces falling off at every movement and touch.

I bought this toy as a Christmas gift for my 10 year old grandson. He was so excited to get it until he started playing with it. He loves "Legos" and has spent a lot of time constructing them. It was very disappointing to find that the "Mega bloks" where warped and wouldn't fit together. It's like when you go to a lumber yard and you throw out the warped 2x4's because you can't construct anything with bad wood. It is unbelievable that they can even be in business with this cheap imitation of Lego. They may do ok with the large bloks but when you get into the small pieces that the older kids like.....forget it! We will never buy another Mega blok and only wish Lego made Halo products. Don't waste your money.

This product definately lived up to my expectations. It looks good, it moves (something many mcfarlane toys don't or are limited to), and is very nice to display in various poses. The toy however does seem a bit fragile and probably not meant to be played with. I stopped playing with toys long ago, so I don't really care, but I can imagine all these young children taking it out, ready to play some awesome mastercheif action only to have the toy disintegrate limb by limb by just the everyday wears and tears of average child's play! These toys are geared towards children and that is why they are designed to move and pose. Defiantely as well made as the other Halo toys that have been in production, but they definately look alot better!

I was also very disappointed that the picture shows a grenade attached to master chief's leg, the box even states that a grenade is included, yet all we get is an assault rifle and a little black peg with no instructions on how you use such peg. However if you look on Master Chief's back and legs, there are holes to put the peg in. These pegs are so that MC can put his weapon on his back and maybe a grenade on his thigh.... except we only get one peg, and ZERO grenades! What is this?!?!?! False advertisement! The packaging states that the grenades are included! So now my master chief sits on the shelf holding a rifle in his hand, and with a black peg sticking out of his back... since I didn't want to lose the peg, and also since the peg stick out of his leg looks really stupid! This is my biggest complaint! I cant believe that they let this problem happen! It says on the package "includes grenades". Well I don't see A grenade... let alone this so called "grenades" business! Major disappointment especially from a toy company like McFarlane who's whole infrastructure is based on pure quality!


Well enough of that. Lets say I will let them slide on that one fact.... just barely! But only because the toy is very nice looking, it poses (not easily mind you), but it still poses and looks great on my shelf where it is meant to be! I like this product overall, and recommend it, but looks like series 2 will be the same chief, but with 2 guns and grenades! So maybe its better to wait. Hopefully they will release the grenades next time! I think I am going to get Cortana next! Also accessory packs would be nice that include different weapons and GRENADES!

I'm an avid collector of this series and although I've been burnt before, never this badly.
Let's start with posability, see that pose pictured above? That's pretty much it, no range of motion. It can hold the gun, sort of, but it won't look like it's aiming at anything in particular and you won't get any kind of dramatic poses, just standing and looking........stoic? I don't think they did any product testing.
Then there's durability, don't sneeze in the presence of this figure or you'll have the special "got stuck with a plasma grenade" pose. It's as if they put this out quick just to turn a buck. I thought maybe it was just mine but I see the majority of reviewers had the same problems I had. Definitly not worth the money.

The Red Team Leader is one of the few Halo figures I have been wanting to see. This is how Spartans should look. The Master Chief looks mostly the same as all the other ones we see Mcfarlane Toys release with almost every series of Halo they do: Great detail, great articulation, kind of dorky looking though. He looks like he is wearing a diaper. Red Team Leader I believe the defining mold for Spartans that we have seen thus far. He just looks ready to kick alien butt. The shoulder pads seem to add a lot to the outstanding features of this figure. I have never really believed the phrase "it looks like it stepped out of the movie/game/show" until I saw this figure. AMAZING detail with many points of articulation(I counted 32). Very durable, very sturdy, and very pose-able. Amazing paint job all around, but especially the visor of the helmet. His assault rifle fits very nicely in both hands, and he looks very good with a shotgun as well. He can hold the flamethrower nicely also, though not as good as Master Chief. They even molded the trigger finger on the right hand just perfectly to fit with the grip of the weapons. Just an amazing figure. I hope they sell them separately eventually, because I would love to get two more Red Leaders and outfit them with SMGs and shotguns like the game. If you have to get one Spartan figure, let this be the one. Heck, he comes with Master Chief, so you cover all your bases. Not for small children since the weapons are small and could be choke-able.
