The video game finally makes an impact in the collectibles scene with NECA's release of Gears Of War action figures. After the success achieved by the huge Xbox 360 franchise, a decision was made to bring GoW toys to the ever booming market. Popularity will continue to grow as there has been word the game is soon to become a movie, as well as the confirmed finale to the series; Gears 3 to be released in April of 2011.

Action Figures Series One

The first release of toys based on the massively exciting Xbox 360 game was made public in the middle of 2008; much to the delight of fans nationwide. NECA was able to recreate some stunning, high quality figures which were lifelike and as close to those characters in the game as possible.

This first set included Marcus Fenix, Delta Squad leader as well as fellow COG Augustus Cole. Not to mention the two horrible (in a good way), Locusts, Locust Drone and Locust Snipe. A box set was made readily available for fans, as well as single boxes of each character. These also included all extra accessories and a head that could be substituted for either Locust.

Series Two

After the first series' success, NECA was given the go ahead to create another set of Gears Of War toys; which were released later on in 2008, November. Promising signs were shown in terms of added articulation, quality was maintained and the figures please many fans.

Four new additions were added, Dominic Santiago and Damon Baird (fellow COGs) as well as the Theron Guards, Marcus Fenix received a touch or two and was released once again.

Series Three

The third set of NECA's toys were released at the beginning of 2009. Four new in game characters were transferred to be created as real world models.

Once again a new version of Delta Squad leader, Marcus was released - he had received some note able retouching, requested by fans. A COG soldier (who I believe is Benjamin Carmine) was created, as well as a Theron palace Guard, Locust grappler and variation of the Locust Cyclops. Once again, the figures included in game accessories and weapons.

Here are the top 10 kinect games for 2010; now that Xbox kinect has been around for a while there is a definite list of the most popular games for kinect.

Kinect has taken the gaming world to another level, you are the controller with a hands free body motion controller and you have so much fun with your family and friends or if you just want to play on your own, you can.

The top kinect game and top kinect sports game is Kinect Sports plays soccer, beach volleyball, bowling, table tennis, track and field, and boxing, it's so much fun playing on your own, setting yourself goals, but when I competed against my friends it was so exciting. Kinect Sports really adds a nice dimension to your video game experience.

The second top kinect game is Dance Central will teach you how to dance the moves from the music videos and it will go fairly smoothly along a learning curve as well. The use of the technology is impressive and it is probably the best party game out there since Guitar Hero became known as a party game (Honestly this one is better, because anyone can just start dancing and having a good time). It works great among all ages and all backgrounds since everything is done with visuals and because of the no-controller feel anyone can easily pick it up and start playing (though don't get me wrong, it is not easy to master).

Number three is Kinectimals and this is the top kids' kinect game. A wide-eyed Bengal tiger cub cocks its head to the side and playfully peers at you. Memories of your first trip to the zoo come rushing back. Through the magic of Kinect that furry tiger cub is in your living room and about to become your best friend.

Number four kinect game is Dance Masters which features 30 tracks spanning club music classics, Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, and Techno, DanceMasters dancers can groove to their favorite songs, creating non-stop set lists and can also download new songs via Xbox live. The game also offers three game play modes for the ultimate dance experience: Dance, Lesson, and Status

Then the fifth on my list is Your Shape and Fitness Evolved. This game with the kinect technology puts your body into the game for the ultimate experience. You'll control the game intuitively with your voice and body as you create your desired fitness experience. Choose a personal trainer to help you meet your specific fitness goals, take a Yoga or Martial Arts class, or play fun, family-friendly mini-games.

Coming in at number six is Adrenalin Misfit. This game reminds me a little of Crash Bandicoot, but a lot more fun to it. You get thrust into 7 unbelievable fantasy worlds with exciting boarding battles in amazing environments. Compete in cross boarding action through freestyle, time and collection challenges against boss characters each with unique abilities. Battle Boss' from around the world growing your abilities and gaining more impressive boards each with their own special features. Win a race, steal that boss' board and do battle to collect all 60.

Now number seven the Biggest Loser Ultimate Workout is a very good workout, you will not need to go to the gym again, offers more than 125 exercise moves focused on upper body, lower body, cardio, yoga, and cardio boxing. Players can select from the exercise moves to create a custom fitness routine or choose from 10 pre-set fitness programs such as Belly Buster and Boot Camp.

The number eight top Kinect game is Joy Ride, combines wild kart racing excitement with the effortless fun of full-body gaming possible only with Kinect for Xbox 360.

Number nine is the top action kinect game, Fighters Uncaged. The process of making a sword is more than what you see in the movies. For many people being a blacksmith is a fantasy where you pound steel against an anvil, dip it in water and voila! You have a completed sword ready to mow down the evil hordes of creatures that lurk in the forest. But swordmaking is much more than this. Swordmaking is both an art and a craft and it takes hard work, a lot of practice and a significant amount of specialized tools to create a sword. It also takes many years of practice to become proficient at this skill.

Before the blacksmith or swordsmith actually starts hammering or heating the metal for a sword there is a lot of work to be done. The sword size, shape, properties, and metal composition all have to be decided upon. These factors determine the amount of metal, the temperatures of heating and the specific steps in the process that have to be completed. This article doesn't cover the complete art of swordmaking. It will only discuss and outline the process of smithing the blade of a sword.

There are many different methods for making a sword and the art has changed over the centuries as technologies, tools and the science of metallurgy has changed. But for the past five hundred years there has been one method that still stands as the most common. This is the six step method. of taking a bar of the desired metal to a completed sword.

The First step is Forging

A bar of the desired metal or combination of metals is heated in a forge and then it is hammered into shape.(The shape of a sword) This hammering process can take a long time and it is called drawing out the sword. The sword is worked on in sections (usually around 6 inches in length) and repeatedly hammered and heated until it comes into the desired shape .This process is repeated many times and the sword is often heated then allowed to cool without hammering. This is required by the metal to keep the desired properties of strength and flexibility. Once this step is completed the sword is in the proper shape but the properties of the metal make it very brittle and something has to be done to give flexibility to it.

Step Two: Annealing
Annealing softens the sword and makes it easy to grind into shape. The sword is now heated and then allowed to cool very slowly. Often it is wrapped in an insulating material to slow down this cooling. It can take as long as 24 hours and this annealing process makes the sword soft and easy to grind.

Step Three: Grinding

Now the blacksmith uses a grinder to work out the edge and point of the sword. This would also be when any engraving is added. This is not a completed sword yet. It is still much too soft so it must be hardened.

Step Four: Hardening

Now the sword is heated to a very high temperature and then placed into a quenching tank. (This is what we always see in the movies). This quenching allows it to cool quickly and evenly which will harden the metal. After this hardening the sword is brittle and something must be done to make it strong yet flexible.

Step Five: Tempering

Again the blade is heated and quenched. But now the heating is at a much lower temperature than was used at the hardening. This heating/quenching cycle may be repeated several times. This tempering allows the blade to be strong but not brittle. This is one stage where the skill and experience of the swordsmith is invaluable. It takes a trained hand and eye to understand the properties of the meta. It will have a certain amount of flexibility yet still retain its sharp edge. Now the sword is ready for completion.

Step Six: Completion

The sword blade itself is now complete. Now the additional parts will be added such as the pommel the guard and the hilt.

For the past five hundred years the only way to learn the art of swordmaking was to find a skilled blacksmith or swordsmith that was willing to take you on as an apprentice. Because of the specialized skills and tools, and the skill that is required this tradition remains the best way to do it today.

Before you invest lots of time in money in equipment and materials you should find a master that is willing to teach you the basics of the art. You won't have to devote your life to endless hours of hammering against an anvil and with a little perseverance, a little patience and some practice you will be able to make some decent swords that you can be proud of.
